A note from Louise and Woody, Studio Directors
We've now been teaching dance in Ventura County for 12 years. It was only natural to eventually open Connexions Dance Studio. Why "Connexions"? We want to help people connect through dance: to their bodies, to other dancers, to the music, and most especially to the music within themselves. It is our mission to make dance lessons and dance venues accessible and more visible to a wider population. There is a whole "underground" dance scene that the general population is unaware of. If they only knew what opportunities were available, more people would dare to dance! We strive to provide the best instructors and a supportive, fun atmosphere. We encourage our students to go out into the world--to nightclubs and other venues--to use and enjoy their dance skills.
We treat every student as a "dancer in the making!" Although we are active competitors, our true love is social dancing, and all our teachers bring this focus to their classes. Emphasis is on proper lead and follow technique which allows our students to dance successfully with a wide variety of partners. We
met in a dance class in the early 1990's. Woody had started his love affair with
dance through Country line dancing, Louise through square dancing. In the
'90's, we found each other in a West Coast Swing class.
